Hey Zach! you totally called me out on what i want to post on next- libraries and reference sections…

i like that story ‘library of babel’ too, and more generally, i love borges’ relationships with libraries;

and a gorey version of The Book of Imaginary Beings would have been great; why must people die? i don’t get it.

I’d love to see an illustrated version of The Book of Imaginary Beings. I guess Edward Gorey was originally slated to do the artwork:

“Unfortunately for Borges enthusiasts, the death of Edward Gorey deprived the world of a new, illustrated version of Borges’ fantastic zoology. Upon his death in 2000, one of the projects left unfinished was a new edition of — The Book of Imaginary Beings for Penguin; Andrew Hurley was to provide a new translation, and Gorey the illustrations.”
